The George B. Quinton Scholarship is the educational arm of John Quinton Foundation.  This scholarship was launched in 1997 at Zion United Methodist Church in the memory and honor of the late George B. Quinton (1919 - 1990), a grandson of John Quinton.

George B. Quinton (known as Bernard throughout the community) was educated in the  elementary school of San Domingo.  Though a high school education did not come within his reach, he was thoroughly self-educated and possessed a love for learning which marked his life and became a large part of the legacy he passed on to his children.  He was continuously involved with the Parent Teachers Association and served in an unofficial advisory capacity to several school board officials.  Bernard, along with his wife, Mary L. Stanley Quinton (1920 - ) continually stressed the importance of education to each of their children and other family members.  Through their untiring efforts each of their children were afforded the opportunity to pursue higher education.

The George B. Quinton Scholarship is generally awarded to a  high school senior who meets the established criteria, as an annually renewable scholarship.  The scholarship is paid directly to the institution of higher learning upon notification that the recipient has been accepted for matriculation at the institution.
